What’s better than the dessert or any other savory made by your hands? This is definitely the best way to show your love to your family and friends or spend your weekend in a productive way. Homemade cookies are the best thing to start with. Forget buying those regular boxes of cookies from your nearby stores and let’s try out two of these amazing and easy-to-make homemade cookies which I learned when I was learning to bake in a baking school near mine place.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients you’ll need:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter that should be at room temperature
  • ¾ cup white sugar
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 12 oz. chocolate chips
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 ¼ cups plain flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt

How you can make it:

  • Let’s start with the ‘never to forget’ step i.e. pre-heating the oven at 350ᵒF.
  • Take a bowl and sift flour, salt and baking soda in it. Start whisking them together.
  • Add cream and butter in another bowl and use a hand mixer to combine both the ingredients together. Make sure that the mixture has turned fluffy and light.
  • Now add vanilla and eggs. Continue beating the mixture until both the ingredients are fully blended in.
  • Then take your mixture of dry ingredients and mix it with the wet mixture. You need to stir the mixture until there is no pocket of flour left.
  • Now mix the chocolate chips and use a spoon to mix the batter.
  • You need to get an ice-cream scoop or spoon to place the batter evenly on the baking sheets lined with parchment paper. Make sure you give appropriate space between every scoop so that your cookies get enough space to spread.
  • Bake your cookies for around 15 minutes or you can see if your cookies have turned golden brown on top and the edges look little crispy.
  • Now take your cookies out from the oven and keep them on the cooling rack and then remove them on the plate and let them cool completely.

Sugar Cookies

Ingredients you’ll need:

  • 1 cup butter, should be at room temperature
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 ¾ cups plain flour

How to make it:

  • Let’s begin with pre-heating the oven at 350ᵒ.
  • Bring all the dry ingredients i.e. salt, baking soda and flour in the bowl. Whisk all the ingredients together till they are fully combined.
  • Take a separate bowl and add sugar, egg, butter, and vanilla and start beating the ingredients until you get a fluffy and light mixture.
  • Mix all the dry and wet ingredients together. With the help of a long-handled spoon, stir the batter until you see no flour pockets.
  • Use a spoon or ice-cream scoop, which will be helpful in placing cookie dough evenly on the baking sheets. Keep enough space between all the cookies so that there’ll have room to spread when baking.
  • Take a drinking glass and use the bottom of the glass to flatten the cookies.
  • Give your cookies a crunchy finish and sprinkle some sugar on the cookies.
  • Transfer the baking sheets in the oven and bake them for 15 minutes or see if the top turns little golden.
  • Take out the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the cooling rack.

You can decorate your cookies with glaze or icing. Also, if you want to give them a festive look you can use edible glitter or sprinkles.
